| This design takes its inspiration from the beautiful patchwork quilts that are a tradition in so many countries. It is charted for six colours but, just as patchworks were made from scraps of fabric left over from other projects, this design would be a wonderful way to use up threads you have already. If you decide to work it in six colours, why not choose your own—you will need two reds, two greens a blue and an earth colour such as a tan, rust or brown. Or you can use the colours suggested in the key. A few simple speciality stitches add a beautiful accent to the design. These could be stitched in the same colour threads as the rest of the design, or you could work them in perle thread, choosing either white or a colour to match your fabric. This will give a beautiful whitework effect to further enhance the antique quality of the design. No matter how you choose to stitch it, Flower Patch is sure to be a winner. |
